Nomad Son came together in September of 1999. A mutual friend of the Nomad Son came together in September of 1999. A mutual friend of the band, Chet Haun (of Concrete Sledge) started the group hoping to have a band that would be ready to play shows on short notice. Chet initially contacted Aaron Smith. Chet and Aaron discussed musicians they knew who might become part of the new band and Dan Lamirand's name came to mind as a possible drummer. Both knew this Muncie musician but neither had ever played in a band with him before. Aaron also approached a mutual friend of theirs, John "J.R." Snyder, and asked him if he would be interested in singing with the band. Chet and Aaron had been in bands with John before, but at the time John had been a drummer and had only been singing on the side. Both Dan and John agreed to give it a shot. Shortly after getting the group together, Chet decided to pursue other interests leaving the band short one guitarist. John recommended long time friend Steve Griffin to fill the void. John had known Steve from an earlier band, Sanity's Edge. Once Steve was on board, the band was complete and it was time for them to decide on a direction. After a short deliberation, the members of Nomad Son decided to try to appeal to a large audience by playing popular rock and alternative songs from as early as the 60's up to modern music. This turned out to be a very successful decision. Nomad Son, with its powerful vocals, driving beats, and strong guitars, has proven to be one of the best received bands of any band the members had been in before. The band continues to be a crowd pleaser and is constantly adding to its fan base. Nomad Son is a band that is definitely not to be missed.
