RPW's music can be described as high-energy rock, blending the sound of today's modern music with the attitude of 70's punk rock. "It is music that should appeal to a wide audience. It is heavy enough to appease those who seek heavy music, yet catchy and melodic enough to be enjoyed by a mainstream audience." In other words, if you took GNR and Nickelback, put them in a dark alley and said "only one of you is leaving alive." That is what RPW sounds like. RPW's influences include Guns'n'Roses, the Sex Pistols, U2, Van Halen, Ozzy, Metallica.
RPW formed in August 2002 and are preparing to gig in the Indianapolis/Fort Wayne area in the upcoming months in support of their first album set to be released in late March 2003. While the band has only been together a few months, its members are no strangers to the music scene. Vocalist Josh Becktel has most recently performed with the band Flatline. His powerful voice and presence is more than capable of propelling an ordinary gig into a memorable rock show. The remaining members of the band include former members of Vinyl Groove. Guitarist Matt Baer, Bassist Jeremy Hood, and Drummer Mike Retherford have been performing together for several years, compiling one of the busiest performance schedules in the area. With original music as their focus, the band is looking forward to networking with other bands in hopes of becoming a part of the amazing and diverse music scene that Indiana and the Midwest has to offer.
