Based in Greensburg, Indiana, Skeeter McGee was started by Rob Bruns, vocals and acoustic guitar, in 1998, playing a country style of music. In 2003, Roberto “Chavez” Barajas, lead guitar, and Bryan Messer, drums and vocals, joined the band, and the music became more pop oriented. Rich Bryant, bass guitar and vocals, joined the band in early 2006.
In just the last six years, the band has played approximately 300 shows, consisting of festivals, night clubs, benefits, and wedding receptions. The band has always been willing to offer its services when needed.
Skeeter McGee’s music is in the style of "Hootie and the Blowfish" meets "Sister Hazel". It is acoustic-based pop-rock, built on the signature vocal style of Rob Bruns, who resides in Moores Hill. The band prides itself on providing a great stage atmosphere, giving an interactive show that is enjoyable for people of all ages, regardless of what their favorite type of music may be.
The band has just released its latest original CD, "Music in Dog Years". The eight tracks were penned by Rob Bruns, with one song written seven years ago, and another that came together in the last few days before recording the disc. The disc was recorded at Russian Recording Studios in Bloomington, Ind. The band has several more songs in the works, and hopes to provide a follow up disc in 2011. Although the disc has been available for only a few weeks, it has been well received and is getting early radio play at several Indiana stations.
Barajas lives in Columbus while Bryant and Messer reside in Greensburg.
